Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is recruiting for a Community Based Instructor for the Las Vegas office. *This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The position will implement Healthy Aging Initiative's outlined goals and activities. Under the direction of the supervisor, the CBI 3 will provide direct education of the Aging Mastery and Disrupt Aging programs to target audiences in Clark County. This position will also focus on developing community partners that provide long term solutions to older adult chronic conditions, either through physical activity, healthy eating or behaviors specifically related to older adult health. Other tasks performed related to direct education include demographic data collection, documentation, and assisting with older adult community events. This position will also focus on developing collaborations with community partners to enhance and highlight UNR's efforts to strengthen the social, economic, and environmental well-being of the older adult population in Southern Nevada. Required Qualifications This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Successful fingerprinting / background check. CPR certification and Health Card for food demonstrations or ability to obtain one within three months of hire. This position requires experience working with seniors, their caregivers and senior agencies. This position requires knowledge of computer programs in MS Office. Schedule This position requires working a variable schedule and travel within assigned locations; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Travel This position requires travel to various sites around the Las Vegas area. Compensation Grade Grade 27 In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets.
