The Center for English as a Second Language, housed in the College of Humanities at the University of Arizona, seeks a highly motivated and visionary leader for the position of Director of the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL). CESL is the only ESL Center in the state of Arizona accredited nationally by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). CESL offers non-credit English as a second language courses, teacher training, English language assessment, and professional development programs promoting cultural and linguistic diversity. Unique student and client numbers average 1,000 annually and represent 25 to 35 nations. This position may require travel but is primarily in-person, and residency in the Tucson, Arizona area is required. This leadership position also has Career Track faculty status. The Directorship is a full-time, year-round position overseeing the center’s personnel as well as managing all strategic, academic, legal, and financial aspects of CESL. Opportunities for teaching and research exist. The Director oversees FTE faculty, faculty coordinators, adjunct instructors, tutors, staff members, student workers, volunteers, and students and reports to the Associate Dean of the College of Humanities.
