Description

This position will teach 4 courses per semester (12 credit hours). This position will serve as the head of the Collaborative Creation emphasis. Faculty members participate fully in department and college activities, including serving on committees and advising students after the first year of employment. Excellence in teaching, scholarship/creative projects, and service are required for promotion and tenure. Faculty expectations for this position include engagement in student recruitment, retention efforts and in assessment of student learning outcomes.

Within our BA in Theatre degree, we have four areas of emphasis: Performance, Collaborative Creation, Design and Technology, and History/Literature. Additional areas of expertise such as acting for the camera, stage combat, or other areas are desirable. Hire will have the ability to teach special topics in areas of expertise.
Adams State University invites applications for a full-time/tenure-track position in Theatre at the Assistant Professor level. Duties will include:

● Teaching courses in acting, directing, devising theatre, and other courses as assigned;

● Directing one Main Stage production most academic years;

● Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, academic advising, advising on senior thesis projects, and curriculum development

Minimum Qualifications:

● Ph.D. or MFA in Theatre.

● Ability to perform position description.

● Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.

● Advance the university’s commitment to diversity and multiculturalism among the University’s faculty, staff, students, research, teaching and community outreach, with relevant programs, goals and activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior professional experience in either acting, directing, devising and/or evidence of successful prior university level teaching desirable.

Salary and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $46,644 - $49,560 range for a traditional 9-month academic-year appointment, commensurate with experience and education. The salary range reflects the level of the highest degree attained and assumes the minimum for an entry-level Assistant professor position to the maximum for an experienced Assistant Professor level position.
