Organization Overview The Security Office is responsible for providing protection of all persons and property on campus. We verify the identification of guests,visitors,and all University members; patrol and inspect the various campus buildings; respond to all emergencies on campus; and conduct investigations and prepare appropriate reports. Overview The Campus Security Lieutenant will serve as a working supervisor of a crew of Security Guards who patrol and check University buildings and facilities. Work is accomplished within departmental procedures, but judgment and initiative are frequently exercised. Will be responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing, directing work, and training personnel. Will review reports, establish security patrol priorities, and review utilization and maintenance of security equipment. Responsibilities The Campus Security Lieutenant will serve as a working supervisor of a crew of Security Guards who patrol and check University buildings and facilities. Will review reports, establish security patrol priorities, and review utilization and maintenance of security equipment. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English necessary. Must be registered by the State of New York, Division of Licensing as a Security Guard and have a New York State Driver's License. The right candidate has 1-3 years of experience as a supervisor of campus security officers. Must have a working knowledge of security-related procedures and be able to work well with other departments within the University. Must be able to effectively communicate with subordinates to accomplish the Security Department's goals, procedures, and objectives. Must have a basic working knowledge of E-mail, Word and Excel. Must be able to make quick and appropriate decisions. Prior police or military experience is a plus but not required.
